WELCOME.

Hello.

My name is Beau Sam.
I am from Boulder, Colorado.
I am a Senior at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) in Baltimore earning a BFA in Painting.
This blog is dedicated to my family, friends, and those interested in my work.

I am so grateful and humbled to have the opportunity to make paintings and appreciate all that I have been given.
So, thank you for your support and please come again soon.

Enjoy.

STATEMENT
My work explores the potential to evoke emotion through painting. The relationship between dramatic layers of visual sceney created by physical layers makes abstract and dimensional tension. Familiar objects, like fashion spreads are used in an obscure way to establish a bizarre narrative. This narrative produces emotions of excitement, perhaps of recognition and curiosity. The work is large-scale to reiterate the sense of being overwhelmed. My works also is about choice and opportunity. The viewer must choose to experience the painting and look as hard or as deep as he or she wishes. The event of peeping or snooping is something that I am exploring in this series of work.
